Day 9 – Romania – Bulgaria

Monday 24th September

The start of a new week beckons. Breakfast was basic, the coffee was thick and strong and the sun was shining. The day began with a discussion about Malaria tablets, side effects, drugs, alcohol in Iran, the end of Ramadan party we can expect while there and now it is off to Bulgaria.

Having made it to Bulgaria we had a quick half an hour comfort stop for people to use the loo, change money, enjoy the sun or grab a 40p a pint beer. When we hit the road again it was time for another iPod idol for lateness where one of our more senior members favoured us with an Irish ditty which lacked the beer fuelled entertainment of other efforts but was an entertaining performance none the less. Now we continue on to our hotel for the night in Kazanlak where bed and another group dinner awaits!

The hotel was luxurious to say the least. Large beds, clean rooms, good showers, mini bars and so on. The group dinner was good, if not plentiful and most returned afterwards for a quick visit to the hotel bar before an early night, week two has begun quietly but very nicely.

Who needs soap operas when they can follow the adventures of the first OzBus through blogs? :-)

I hope all of you have a wonderful trip; am very envious, but also looking forward to the day when I can take a similar trip (as well as hear more about your adventures).

All the best.
