Day 63 – Singapore - Jakarta

Saturday 17th November 2007

After a reasonably organised departure from our hostel 10 of us jumped on the MRT to the airport and boarded our flight to Jakarta, slightly apprehensive about flying on this dodgy airline we still gave it a go and I am glad to say had no problems.

We landed into Jakarta and then grabbed a cab to the hotel. After a leisurely lunch, more due to the time it took the food to come than how long we spent eating it we decided that after of whirlwind few days an afternoon off was in order. A dip in the pool, some time on the web and a quick nap was needed and we decided to stay in Jakarta for another night so we could catch our breath,

The group split in two for the evening with half going to an Aussie Steak House and the rest hitting the bar district. I was part of the steak house crew and we had an amazing meal and found a lovely little hotel bar round the corner. My girlfriend decided to tell the house band it was my birthday so I had to sit through a rendition of “happy birthday Mr Andy” but it was still a good night.

Having carried out extensive research into what to do in Jakarta being carried out by other members of the group we went to bed with high expectations for the next day.
